Agra traffic policemen get 4G enabled e-challan devices
AGRA: To expedite the road challan payment, traffic policemen in Agra have got 33 4G-enabled e-challan devices. The small device has inbuilt camera. At present, a traffic defaulter has to make several rounds and stand in long queue outside traffic police office to pay for his challan.
Speaking to TOI, senior superintendent of police Amit Pathak said: "The device helps the cop to take photo challan of the vehicle and instantly retrieve information about the vehicle owner. Once the receipt is issued, the defaulting driver can swipe his debit or credit card on the device to pay penalty for his violation."
"The system is connected with national informatics centre , which keeps track record of every challan and payment.
In first phase we have issued 33 devices, if this system becomes successful, we will commission more such device for public and police convenience," he added. Interestingly, the first e-challan was issued to a lawyer, who was caught without helmet on two-wheeler at Hariparvat roundabout
